Valentines Day Scrap Wreath

Check out this yumminess. I really enjoy crafting in all it's glory. This Valentines Day Scrap Wreath was really easy and fun.  You simply need some scraps of fabric and some ribbon. I cut my strips to roughly 1 inch by 10 inches. I had a jelly roll that included some of these fun colors, so I used a bunch of that. I also used old lace. cute heart ribbon, and some awesome glitter ribbon. I simply tied them all onto a wire wreath.

This is a picture of the back. I kept all the pieces coming out towards the front.

This wreath hangs inside our house. It's a great pop of texture and color. I love the colors and fun of Valentines Day. This is a great project to cure the winter blues and get you in the spirit!

Believe

Have you heard of people who have "one little word" for the year? It's kind of like setting a goal for the year. If you're anything like me, your list of goals for the year might get a little long. I'm a big goal setter and every year I have a big list in everything from health and fitness, to spiritual goals, to goals for our family, etc. You can read about Allie Edwards One Little word here. My mom started doing One Little Word years ago and introduced me to the concept.

This is different. You pick one word to be your focus for an entire year. Last year my word was FEARLESS. It was something to focus on. Something to remind myself of when times got tough. It was one thing. One goal. One little word. I love picking a word for each year.

This year my word is BELIEVE. It applies to so many things in my life. First and foremost I am going to believe in myself. I'm going to believe in my creative dreams. I am going to believe in my abilities as an awesome mom. I'm going to believe in God and Savior Jesus Christ and the promises that they have made to me and my family. I am going to believe in my husband and his business. I'm going to believe in my kids and their divine potential.

My religion as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is the foundation of my life. We believe in having faith in God. Not faith, as in a wish that he is, but FAITH- meaning knowing something, believing with your whole heart and being willing to ACT. This year I am going to believe. It's a word of action, of hope, of knowing.

This month I have found myself really focusing on believing in myself. You know how we all get overwhelmed with life? I sure do. Sometimes you might start to doubt your abilities, your relationships, your purpose. Well, I'm putting a stop to all of that in my life. I am believing in myself. I started to exercise more, which is something I don't really enjoy. I can't seem to get back into the groove since I have had kids and it's too easy to quit. Well I'm believing that I can do it. I am believing in myself. I am keeping my head full of positive thoughts, that I can do it.

I also am believing in myself creatively. Sometimes I feel really small in a big creative world. Well, that's ok! I'm going to keep doing what I love and sharing it with the world. It brings me joy. Every journey begins with a single step, right? So I'm going to believe in my abilities and am going to keep taking steps forward.

Do you have one little word? What's yours? What inspired you to pick that word? I'd love to heard from you. If you've never tried this before, pick a word. It is awesome!

Hello 2015

Hello 2015.

The holidays are always such a crazy time of year. This year we were lucky enough to get to travel to see family. I love traveling and getting a chance to reconnect and reset. As we have been getting back into the swing of things I have really enjoyed sneaking in some time to scrapbook, you know, between laundry, unpacking, putting away Christmas toys, prepping preschool, grocery shopping and everything else.

I was so happy to get my Studio Calico January Kit Far Far Away. I am so inspired by colors and was loving the color pallet this month. I was able to make so many layouts with the main kit and Project Life kit. My Project Life pages will be coming later this month as I get pictures to fill them. I did create this beautiful title page for my 2015 Project Life Album. I am so excited to stay current on my Project Life this year. I got a new Instax camera for Christmas and was so excited to use it. I know I'm biased, but aren't these little kiddos so cute? I thought it would be fun to take pictures of the kids again on the last page of my Project Life Album to document how they have changed through out the year.

The Halls Start Here

I loved the turquoise in this kit. I quickly pulled them all out and set them aside for this fun layout of my girls with my sister Sara. We always have so much fun when we see her and I wanted to document this special relationship. For this layout I pulled together navy, turquoise, pale pink and purple. I also loved the wood elements. After I punched out all the wood diamond pieces I knew I had to use the wood background for a cool textural piece.

Our Favorite

When I saw some of the bright colors, I had the idea of creating a whimsical park page. We love going to the park and Austin is finally old enough to go. One of my other favorite things from this kit is the pink and turquoise lettering. It is such a beautiful script.

At the Park

I really liked the pink mountain scene paper. Since I have a bunch of girls and we live in Colorado I wanted to pull it all together. I used black to ground this fun paper and kept it simple.

Colorado Girls

When I saw the fun fruit pieces in this kit I knew they would be a fun embellishment for this bright and sunny layout.

Feed the Goats

I saved my favorite layout for last. I was so excited to do a fun masculine page about some of my husband's adventures. I loved using the "Adventure Awaits" title card to bring this fun layout together. I love the bright colors. I love the "hello paper" and ink splats.

I hope we have lots of fun adventures this year! Some of my creative goals for this year are to blog about my Studio Calico Kits every month and to stay up to date on my Project Life and share it with you. I hope you'll check back in.
